Keys in Hand: Delivering on a Promise to Grace's Family
A few weeks ago, we shared Grace's story…the highway breakdowns, the nor'easter transfer on the side of the road, the ventilator battery counting down. We told you about the moment at our 13th Annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser when her family learned they would be receiving a handicap accessible van.
Yesterday, we got to make good on that promise. Yesterday, we handed the keys to Filomena, Grace’s mom.
There's something about that moment, key in hand, door slides open for the first time that words struggle to capture. This wasn't just a vehicle changing hands. It was a family exhaling for the first time in a while. It was Filomena, who has carried so much for so long, being told: your family doesn’t have to figure this one out alone.
The van is fully equipped to transport Grace safely alongside all of the life-sustaining equipment she depends on every day. No more calculating whether the battery will hold. No more white-knuckle drives in vehicles that were never built for this. No more roadside emergencies in the rain. Just reliable, safe transportation, the kind most of us take entirely for granted.
Watching Filomena take those keys, surrounded by the people who love and care for Grace, was a reminder of exactly why Team Noah Foundation exists. Not for the announcement. Not for the reveal. But for this…the quiet moment when a family's daily reality actually changes.
Grace can now get to and from the appointments, the hospitals, the specialists who help her thrive that journey just got a whole lot safer.
To every donor, every volunteer, every guest who raised a glass at the Wine Tasting this year: you did this. You are the reason Filomena is holding those keys today.
Thank you for making moments like this one possible.
